Hello:

I setup the DS1620 as explained on the manual (page 61) but my temperture readings seem to be high by 7 degrees.· Read out says 74 and room probe says 67

Anyone know of a reason for this?

Is your DS1620 near another heat source (like the regulator on a BOE)? Move the room probe very close to the DS1620 and I think you'll see them get within a degree or two.

It's on the top of the bread board of the Javlin and I was just thinking it may be too close to the heat sink and picking up the heat waves.

I am going to move it to a chip socket which I will mount to some long wires so I can position it where I want for better temperature testing.

    Thanks for the idea.

You'd be surprised how much local heating is accomplished by the voltage regulator -- I'm guessing that's what you're seeing.

Moved to a different location away from heat sink

    Now a +2.9 degree difference.
