Help!
Looking for a Stereo FM receiver (88mhz to 108 mhz) that is RS-232 controlled, want to replace my audio system in my F-250 with a PC. Will be using a SX or BS to glue components together.
Thanks for any Links!
Mike

Google for some other interesting stuff, I found a lot that might possibly help you...

Yup,
I've been looking at stuff like this, didn't want to start from scratch, looking for a board level or even a module, or sub system that can be integrated into a larger system. I didn't want to have to handle the stereo decoding, if I could avoid it!
Thanks,
Mike

Sort of, looking for something that was already built, maybe a board level FM Stereo receiver. Don't think I'm up to the task to start at the chip level. Wonder if they have a dev board? I'll do some digging.
Thanks,
Mike

Thanks for the link. I been looking at some studio equipment and this looks to be the smallest receiver that I've seen and it runs on 12VDC. Still digging around for a board level product, but if the price on this one is not to high I might give it a try. Wish it had the RDS feature like the chip in Paul's link.
Thanks Again,
Mike

Is that a Ford quarter ton pickup?
If you are going with a small form factor PC with PCI slots, I believe there are a few video digitizing cards with both TV and FM tuners on board, then you don't need to serial control.
Otherwise, if you didn't mean a truck, you could probably use a SX chip or SX48 protoboard and go from RS232 to IR remote control to interface with any stereo gear that has a normal IR remote.
I don't know, do any car stereos come with a IR remote? There must a few but probably big $$. Then the PC RS232 > SX > IR would work too in a vehicle.
