how do i add more i/o two basic stamp 2 specificaly?

I was told by a parallax individual that i can add more i/o pins to the basic stamp 2. Either by adding another bs2 or a ic.
But my question is:
1. if using 2 basic stamp2's on what pins do a connect them together? (like pin 2 goes to pin 3,)
2. if using an ic (which i'am told is cheaper) on what pin in the basic stamp 2 do i connect the ic to and vice versa?
