HI everybody
It's some time that i'm trying to associate the *.src files·with·the SX-key Editor.
it does not work,
in the list of programs there is no listed the SX-Key Editor and if i search and click on the program in the folder where it resides, nothing appen.
in the same way i did with the *.bs2 files to the Basic Stamp Editor and with these i was succesfull it even was showed in the window for associations.
could please somebody tell me why?
tanks for the reply
Stefano
·P.S. sorry for the big mistake, you should read *.sxb instead of *.src

There's noting special about the SxKey IDE or SX assembly files preventing you from creating an association. It sounds like you're not familiar with the way to actually associate file types with a program. Try these instructions:
www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/associate_file_with_program.mspx
Thanks, PeterM
tank you for the prompt reply,
i must apologize for my gross mistake, the file extension that i was speaking of was not the *.src but the *.sxb
of course i know how to associate files to programs, all my other files extensions have an association with their relative programs, but i cannot succeed with the *.sxb
again i apologize for that
Stefano
Again, there's nothing special about .SXB files compared to all the other files on your machine. If you know how to associate files then you should be able to do this. If you can't do this, then I still think you might not be familiar with the way to manually associate a file type with a program, even if the program is not in the list of possible programs for file association.
Your question is simple, and the webpage I gave you explains it step by step. Did you go to the MS site I gave in the previous reply and follow the steps in it? If you did, then what happened exactly? If you didn't, then you need to go there and try it before making any other assumptions. Let me know how it turns out.
Thanks, PeterM
As I am not a computer guru, after doing by myself several time the procedure, I also followed your suggested microsoft help link, the procedure illustrated in there, was the same i followed by practice, plus another couple I did not know, I followed all the different procedures, with no result, and while I am sure it worked with my previous Compaq laptop, but at the time there was not SXB and the association of the .src files worked as expected, it does not work with my actual HP laptop.
Making the association procedure once again it jumped to my attention that none of the files managed by the SX-Key Editor allow any association nor the .src neither the .sxb, the SX-Key Editor icon does not even appear in the program association window, even after I select it in the browse button.
All the other files works well with their relate programs, with no hesitations, though none of them has the tricky .src extension.
At this point·I cannot guess wath's the problem for this, that is not a problem, just a minor annoyance.
If something of a solution comes to your mind, let me know.
Thanks for the interest and the time to reply me
Stefano
P.S. I edited some minor english mistakes, forgive me I'm not an english mothertongue
