Is it possible to transmit video over a phone line with a basic stamp?
I know that it is possible in general (...google...), but can it be done with a CM8880 chip ans Stamp?
I'm not trying to do this, was just interested for future possibilites.

what it can do is control devices that would do audio/video.
You could also use the stamp to sample for audio or audio level (just to see if audio was present...not to actually mix)...same with video (blanking freq's and such).
At least that's my gist on it!
You could use one of those little flashdrive modules that the stamp can work with. Have the stamp connect to a modem and then MAYBE have the flashdrive doo-hicky send it's image data thru the modem....Talking out my bum on this one! ;)

You could send some pretty rough stills at 5fps (haha) and a dumbed down resolution...but then again, why would ya want to!

Quality video over phone lines is a pipe dream (its 8kHz sample rate for pete's sake, it isn't even fast enough to sample voices well, our minds fill in sibilence and other higher frequency audio through cues, we understand phone audio because of our minds ability to "fill in the blanks").

http://www.homechoice.co.uk/ , for instance.
Video on demand, over ADSL. Works a treat.
However, the cunning inside that set-top is a bit more elaborate than a Stamp, and the compression boxes even more so. However, video over phone lines is not necessarily a scam...

(Yes, I do have a link to Homechoice. There are other providers of similar services)

"video and phone lline - those terms don't go together. You simply don't have the bandwidth necessary to transmit video over phone lines."
needed a bit of clarification, since it's something I do day in, day out, to thousands of customers...
And, while ADSL != POTS, the phone line is exactly the same. There's just a bit more silicon on the ends :)
If our chap wants to shove video over phone lines using a Stamp to control what's being sent, then such things are entirely possible. Fun, even, in a warped sort of a way.
