Can some one please tell me what is the purpose of capacitor in the digram?

    Man, that project is SO COOL!

    The capacitor is to decouple noise spikes on the Vdd line -- either from the module to the BS2, or from the BS2 to the module. It's good practice to have such a 'power filtering' capacitor near each active device in your designs.

    Yes, especially on a device that is designed to output pulses -- noise could induce false pulses which would be a problem for the application that uses that sensor.

    Allan is correct...But to add to that, you can find the datasheet for this sensor on our website at the following link.· It includes example connection diagrams.
