End of Life Purchasing Opportunity

Dear SX52 customers,
With the support of Ubicom, Parallax·will extend the end of life (EOL) purchasing opportunity for the SX52. Between now and November 23rd, you can book and guarantee·delivery for·as many SX52s as you will need for the life of your product. Orders·must be·placed through your distributor or directly·with Parallax (on-line, by fax, etc.). There is no change in our pricing structure for·this EOL purchasing as our costs remain the same. No scheduled orders, please. You will need to take delivery of whatever you order.
All·orders received will be·shipped·through January·and February in the sequence in which they are received. You will be notified of the actual delivery date once we receive·your order.
If you read this message after November 23rd and·and didn't have the opportunity to order your·SX52s, we may still meet your needs·from our buffer stock. We will order·additional SX52s equal to or greater than our booked orders, amounting to something between 50 and 100K SX52s. We will likely still be able to fill your orders·though they'll come from our remaining buffer stock and eventually our supply will be exhausted. Our Sales Manager Jim Carey will keep track of these details and will communicate with·our customers as appropriate. Even if you read this message too late it is important to place your order to guarantee delivery.

P.S. The reason for the SX52 EOL is that Parallax has been unable to locate a packaging·supplier for this chip with the volumes we are selling. There will be no change in supply of other SX processors (SX20AC/SS, SX28AC/SS, SX28AC/DP, SX48BD), which we should soon have in both leaded and RoHS-compliant packages.

Now there is a proper and professional approach to this situation.
In my own case, we are moving our designs to the SX48 because we need to be able to purchase devices at any random future time, so eventhough this one-time-buy is interesting, it will not meet our longtime goals; we cannot design-in a chip that will soon be unavailable.
For those who are already committed to the '52, here at least is an opportunity to analyze and improve their current situation.

If you are this kind of customer, please contact me so I can estimate our final needs even if you are unable to submit a purchase order today. I'd like to be sure to have enough to meet·your needs.
