SOIC to DIP adapter

I'm developing a temperature-sensing thingie, and the folks over at maxim-ic were kind enough to send me a couple of samples of their digital converters:

Now of course, this SO chip has these 8 really tiny feet that don't fit at all into my Basic Stamp. I think what I need is an SOIC to DIP adapter, but I just wanted some expert confirmation before I buy.
1. Is the Basic Stamp a DIP board?
2. Are there any solder-free adapters?
3. Any other recommendations?
TIA
Joel

You can find SOIC to DIP adapters at www.jameco.com and www.sparkfun.com.· You have to solder the SOIC to the adapters.
