Problems resetting the Javelin

I have my Javelin permanently installed in a robot i built. Everything has been working fine until today. Now the IDE can't reset the Javelin when downloading a program. It just stucks in "resetting the Javelin". If i switch the javeling off and on again the download starts, but it stops again after download with another "resetting the Javelin". A new restart and the program runs. this is new to me... Any ideas???

Is your robot powered by batteries?

If so, try refreshing your batteries.

I suspected the batteries, but i charged them all night (12V 4 Ah, lead battery) and i still have the same problem. The IDE finds the Javelin but can't reset it. When i test the connection in the IDE i get the following respons:

[noparse][[/noparse]Error IDE-0056] Possible Javelin on COM1 did not respond.

My list of possible causes:

* Not sufficient power in the robot. Checked
* Faulty cabeling in the robot. Checked
* Error in the com port setup in the PC. How do i check this?
* Hardware error in the Javelin. Is this possible?

Any ideas anyone...

Is it possible for you to put the javelin
into the javelin demo board (assuming you have one, or maybe a basic stamp board).
I understand you use the pc com port (rather than usb), turn off the port's fifo settings.
By putting it in the demoboard you isolate
the javelin from other electronics. If the javelin then
still does not accept a download, you know the javelin itself
is the cause. It is possible the javelin is·damaged.

I'll test it in the demo board. I can still use it in the robot as long as i reset it by switching on/off the current to start the download. I will also test with a diferent PC.
