Super Carrier and BS1-IC - Help

I just recently bought a Super Carrier board and a BS1-IC. From all the documentation that I have read I need the us232 adapter cable to program my BS1-IC. Is this correct or will I be able to program it by using a standard serial cable connection to the DB9 connector on the Super Carrier board?

For programming the BS1 on the Super Carrier you need the BS1 Serial Adapter, #27111.

    Interesting side note:

You can program a BS1 on the PDB without a Serial Adapter via the USB connection.

Thanks Jon and Ryan. I will have to get a serial adaptor. Another quick question. I might also be purchasing a BS2 unit. Is that programmable on the Super Carrier Board via a direct serial connection?

Yes -- plug your serial cable into the DB-9. The reason you need the BS1-SA for the BS1 is that it takes care of the RS-232-to-TTL level shifting for the BS1; that circuitry is built into the BS2 (it's bigger, so there was room to add it).
