audio Spectrum analyzer maybe?

Can anyone point me in the right deraction to making an audio spectrum analyzer? I am not looking for accuracy. It is just for show. I was thinking of using 16 band-pass filters and 2 ADC0838. But I am not sure that it would be fast enough. Also How dose others do it with no discrete components ?

    Hi TC;

    There is (at least was) an app note on the Ubicom site showing exactly that. An audio FFT spectrum analyzer good to about 10 KHz as I recall.

    All you needed is an SX at probably 50 Mhz, two resistors and a small capacitor. It was really neat, and dissecting the FFT code was a blast.

    Perhaps it's still there, or possibly on the SX LIST.

    Let me know if you can't find it, I could do some digging, and probably find it somewhere in my pile!

    Cheers,

    Peter (pjv)
