    Why not just use an op-amp? If you understand the principals of transistors, it shouldn't be a problem. If you don't understand the principals of transistors, then you may want to find somebody in your area (community or technical college) who has a great deal of time to show you. Transistors are active components that require calculation and electronics understanding.

    ...It isn't the same as hooking up a resistor and turning on the power.
