Connection help?

We just finished building the OEM BS2 kit but cannot get the BASIC Stamp Editor to recognize the microcontroller [noparse]:([/noparse]· Would anyone have a suggestion?· We've tried every suggestion in the Student Guide (appx E) We've triple checked the assembly instructions for proper orientation and connections.· The serial cable is connected and is not null.· The power source is good (even switched it to a 9-volt using a brand new battery...twice),·"unchecked" the FIFO in the port properties, and finally·tried the board on a different computer.·· We·continue to receive the "No BASIC Stamps Found" message when attempting to run the first program in the editor.· Both computers will display the following when running "identify":

Version:· <blank>
Loopback:· Yes
Echo:· Yes

Can you think of anything we could check??· Any help would be appreciated!· Thanks!!!!

update: changed com1 to com2 in device manager and it recognised the stamp once, tried to download a program and am back to the same problem as before, doesnt recognize the stamp.

Is this a laptop?· Have you disabled FIFO Buffers for the new COM Port?· Also, are you using a USB converter?
