Optascope questions

I have the USB oscilloscope with the understanding signals text running 4.0.0
Question 1 the zoom function does not seam to do any thing
··········· ··· 2 what is the red bar at the top right
··············· 3 how do I excess the help file if I go on line it says not available

    You will find the Help file and instructions in how to install it in this software version and some more information.

    Please also make sure to go through the book and you will find most of your answers.

    I need to make sure that you are following the steps to zoom in on your screen. From the book, page 12:
    "Zoom mode allows you to drag and draw a box around an area, then zoom in on that area to view detail."

    I'm not sure if you are referring to the "plot area indicator". In that case Figure 1-8 on Page 10 will explain in detail.

    Also, you were supposed to receive documentation with your oscilloscope with details in where to obtain the software, pointing to the links I mentioned above. If you didn't receive that documentation you can download the pdf from this link:

    Thank you for your quick reply perhaps I should re phrase question 2 and 3
    2 compare fig 1-8 page 10 to my screen.bmp from other post the far left of my plot area indicator
    starts with T button followed immediately by a vertical red line with a horizontal red line going over through the trigger symbol but on my screen half way to the right after the trigger I have a vertical red bar with a large space then the other T button as opposed to the red bar being next to the t button on both ends
    3 I have followed the links as you described in this post as well as the others?
    I think I have the help file but I can’t link to it through the help on the menu but can using windows explorer
    Also I reloaded the software now I can use the zoom

    Hello Brian,

    At least I can help you with the Help file first. You mentioned that you already downloaded the file (OPTAscope81M Help.chm).

    Now you have to put that file in the same folder you have the exe file (OPTAscope-400.exe).

    Once the file is located in that folder you can open the help from the software selecting Help>Help.

    Please let me know if you can make it work that way.

    Hey all!
    I installed new optascope software, no joy.
    I can hear my computer tell me that a new USB device is connected, but the new 4.0 software won't see it.
    Tried uninstalling and reinstalling twice, followed directions for locating drivers, did everything on the PDF's.
    Running XP pro, service pack 2, any ideas???

    Yes, you must set the COM Port in the software to the one assigned to the USB Driver in your device manager.

    Went back to the parallax website and found the part where it said to ignore the pdf's with the program.
    Followed the instructions on the site and all works well now!
