SureLink radios

· Hello all,

··· For a remote Stamp-based data logger I'm using a set of SureLink data radios. Overall I've been quite pleased with them, particularly their Stamp friendly interface.

··· I transmit a string of about 130 characters every·8 seconds or so. Contained in the string are 2 12-bit analog values, dissolved oxygen %, salinity, time date, depth, latitude, longitude, and speed as calculated by the GPS.

·· I've set RF baud rate to 4800 and the data goes at 2400.

·· Just wanted to compare notes with anyone else's experience, particularly data rates and ranges in open areas versus built-up areas using the on board antenna compared to an external.

·Cheers

·Tom Sisk

I don't think that there are too many of us who opperate on your level Tom, you may have to wait awhile for some feedback.· I've had my eye on the SureLink radios for a while, but have not had opportunity to use them yet.

    Tim,

    Thanks for saying hi.

If you happen to be near me in eastern Canada, I've got a spare set of SureLinks you could try!

    Cheers,

    Tom

I have used them but not quite to the extent you have. I used the same baud rates. the area where they are used is a 1 million square foot warehouse with about 16 miles of conveyor mostly hung from the ceiling. they are only about 600 to 700 feet apart but the metal/obstruction density is pretty high. The project was custom lighting control...very simple. they seem to be extremely reliable. oh yeah, Im using the onboard antenna, and I'm only sending a few bytes.

    Tom,

Your offer is very generous. I'm on the west coast in Washington, north of Seattle..... Truth is, my time is so short these days that I wouldn't have time to work with the radios right now, so I'd better wait until that changes some.

    Thank you very much,

    Tim
