Any one knows where I can get information on motor ramping. I need to stop a motor at a given point in forward or reverse using the BS2 Thanks Hank

    Hank,

·· You can stop a Stepper Motor at a given point pretty easily, but a DC Motor would require a Brake and an Encoder, and probably still wouldn't stop on a dime, so to speak.· What exactly are you trying to do?

Chris I am trying to inprove the steering system on my vehicle I have the braking system the H-bride controller. For an encoder I whas thinking I would be using a pot and RCtime. Hank

    Hank,

·· Not trying to hinder progress for you but an RCTime circuit may not have the responsiveness you need.· You can try low RC values and see how it works though.· Since it's steering it may work.

Chris, I am using an modified digital servo for an encoder now but I have a lot of backlash maybe I should try in program to get rid of it. Hank

    Hank,

·· Perhaps a Stepper based system would work better?· Depends on if you have the voltage/current available to do it too, I guess...In what manner did you modify the servo?· Continuous rotation?

Chris, I disconnected the servo motor interface and connected the output to the h-bridge controller the servo is hooked mechanically to the steering to sense it position, Hank

    Hank,

·· I guess I'm a little confused as to how you're using a servo to sense position?

...You may just want to go with the stepper motors.
