Eagle custom silk screen logos - How can I do this?

I want to create a custom library of my own silkscreen logo images but I don't know how to convert a bitmap to a silkscreen component. Any pointers because the help file has no mention of this.

Thanks

Mike

Hmmm, Interesting question Mike. I don't think there is any built in method for doing this. If you can easily vectorize the logo, you should be able to create an equivalent "component" to be placed on the board. If not, you may be forced to create an analog by composing an array of boxes, much like painting a picture pixel by pixel. This would be a post processing operation on the silkscreen layer file using a scripting language such as Pearl.

Though perhaps there is a way, I just cant remember running across any such feature.

    Hello Paul!

    How’s it going?

Yes, I can create a vector image but I have been all over the internet and back with no luck·with information on how to easily do this. An example of a logo can be found if you go in to the microchip.lbr and chose the logo from there. It seems to be very consistent with the official microchip logo and it's hard to believe some one·re-created it by hand, but I suppose it could be done though.

I was able to create my own library silk logo using the polygon tool, but it would be nice to import a vector image or bitmap and have eagle convert it to the proper format.

I suspect that they knew what the internal format for the .lbr file was and have a utility to convert it, though as I said this is just a suspicion. Yes Im back in full force, now that Oct 1 has past, though the week before I started ramping back up my presence since the end of the fiscal year wasn't as bad as I anticipated it would be, I did 350% of the expected workload for the last month, but quite a bit were luckily "easy" counts (had several straighforward cases placed on my docket).

Glad to have you back Paul.

    Mike-

You can create your own library files with simple logos. It's not terribly hard. If you want to do something with masked gradients or something fancy, you'll have to disassemble the .lbr format and hack something up. Unfortunately, I know of no other way.
