How do you find parts that you used on your board?

Hello Guys,
·
I have been messing around with Eagle Lite designing simple boards to learn how to use the software. I am now trying to find parts that the board design is using.
·
I have a parts catalog from Digikey.com but when trying to find the part that I used on one of my board designs, I cant find them! It is like trying to find a needle in a hay stack!
·
For example, I can't find·the following·connecter anywhere in the 1500+ page catalog.
·
Part#··L02P····· con-amp-mt····
·
Any suggestions?

The key is to find the part before deciding to use it, creating a new library component for the part if nessesary. All of my projects have ar personal library to contain parts used which are not availible in the distributed libraries. Something which is nessesary if you are building SMT boards.

    Thanks Paul,

I have found some parts that are both in the library and the catalog I have. I will have to do research this way since I do not know how to make my own parts yet. I plan to get the book that explains how to use Eagle cad, and I'm sure it has a section on how to create parts.

    Thanks again.

You can download the Eagle manual from the Cadsoft ftp site.

Go to www.digikey.com·and search for your part number.· Searching the Digikey catalog just reminds me I need to see an optometrist.

Through practice Ive gotten quite good at laying out parts, especially SMD pads (can make any DIL SMD layout in less than a minute), it just takes practice and experimentation.
