hello

been looking for a way to monitor current of a circuit
i would prefer an ic circuit where the input could be gated
ive only found the inductive type of set up is their another way
thanks for any help

    Japer-

AC or DC? What current level? What accuracy is required?

I do this every day, but I don't know how to help without more information...

A common method of monitoring current is by using a current sensing resistor, this is a resistor which has a very low and precise resistance (fractions of an Ohm). The voltage difference across the resistor is measured and the current is calculated according to I=V/R.

    a/c and d/c
as far as current value, just the feedback that the load is on or off
accuracy 2 bit resolution would be good enough.

this sound like a good idea it would show change in value on a loaded circuit
    which would be good enough.
    thanks

Look at the MAX471 and MAX472 's. I've used both quite successfully.

    Thanks Javalin

looking at the data sheet. the 8 dip form factor is more what am looking for.
The low operating amps and flexible voltage range is a plus also.
