MCP23016 pros & cons ??

Hi,

Nut & Volts article columns #109 may 2004 by Mr. Jon Williams "Expanson made Easy" gave the Microchip MCP23016 very high marks. According to the article, the part was not yet released to production & the testing was based on a sample part.

My question is : is this part now in production & is it working without any problems ??

Yes, it's been a while since it was released, and even has a "little brother" called the MCP23008. I like these chips.
