External Oscillator

I am trying to get a new board up.· I'm using the SX48 with the Murata 50 MHz resonator.· I have only installed the processor and the resonator. ·I've strapped MCLR high.· VDD is +5VDC, and all·vdd and vss pins are properly connected.

·My problem is, I see no clock.· I'm looking for the 50 MHz oscillation and I see a dc signal at about .22 VDC.

Referring to the manual, I see comments about enabling·some FUSE settings.· Does this mean I have to program the SX before I can test my oscillator?

Thanks in advance.

You must use the OSCHS2 or OSCHS3 setting on the DEVICE line when you program the SX chip.
If the SX chip is not programmed it will not oscillate.

Thank you, I was beginning to suspect something like that.
