Word variables in SX/B

Hello from Germany,

I just started to work with the SX-28 and your great SX/B compiler. I
just
want to ask, if there are any plans to enhance the SX/B compiler for
WORD
variables support.
I do ask, because I·too use the BS2p which·is also·a SX Chip internally.
And
pBasic already supports WORD variables. So, the technology, how to do on
SX
chips in general is already available. It is only a question of
implementation I guess ....

Thanks a lot for your answer, with best regards from Germany

You're right, it's only a question of implentation. Keep in mind, however, that the initial goal of SX/B was to serve as a bridge between BASIC Stamp users and the SX. So, it is deliberately simple -- this lets you look "under the hood" to understand what's happening. That said, SX/B is being updated all the time and while I can't promise you, 16-bit variables may show up in some future version, but that code will be a little trickier to learn from than the native 8-bit code we have now.
