WebCam video over an RF connection

Would anyone know how (or if it's even possible) to take the output from my webcam and send over an RF connection? My end project will make use of a wireless RS-232 to transmit control data to an from a boat, but I was wondering if I could put a webcam on the boat and send the signal over that same wireless data connection.

Thanks for the help.
Stephen

    Stephen,

If your camera has an RS-232 port on it, you'll probably be able to get the data back from your boat on the 232 link. But, you'll probably have lots of challenges in getting the control, data, and picture information to be time-shared properly. As well, I suspect you won't be really impressed with the update times from frame to frame.

My last project had the same requirements and in the end, having the camera on its own radio link made life sooooo much simpler. Now, we have the data appearing on the laptop's main screen via the serial port and the video appears in a small window on the same computer because we also put a video card into the laptop as well.

You can get a complete color camera, radio, and cable setup from www.microwireless.net for little more than $100. I've bought from them twice and the service and products are great.

    Good luck with your project!
