I discovered after·several hours·of attempting to debug a program that was using pin 7 to pulseIn data from an accelerometer, that pin 7 was dead.· So now my question is, how common an occurance is this and are there any known ways to revive the dead pin?· Or am I stuck with 15 usable pins instead of 16.

It is not a common occurrance, but it can happen with a programming error.· What usually happens is that a pin is driven as an output into a connection of the opposite state (e.g., an output high driven directly into ground which causes a short that kills the pin).· Unfortunately, if your pin is dead, it's dead for good.
