DPDT switches?

I built a circuit for directional signals and emergency flashers for driving/racing games based on the circuit in Activity # 4 on page 83 of "What's a Microcontroller?" book. How can I connect a DPDT switch to the circuit for directional signals? I thought that I could connect a wire from Vdd to the center terminal of the switch and resistors from P3 and P4 to the other terminals of the switch on the same pole as the center terminal. The other pole of the switch will be connected to a game controller. What about push-on/push-off switch for emergency flashers?
