Aloha,

Was wondering if there are any folks here using Macs to program their stamps. I just downloaded Murat's
MacBS2 programming app and my LEDs are flashing for joy.

Peace,

Dean

    What is a 'Mac'?

PS - I'm pulling your leg.

PPS - That means I am joking.

I'm a Mac user - but usually use my PC for Stamp programming.

I am a Mac user, and do use my Mac to program the Basic Stamp. I am on a Powerbook using Murat's program. I am going through a FTDI-based USB-to-serial converter (bought through Parallax) and on a BS2p24/40 Dev Board.

I use my powerbook G4 with my programming on the USB version of the stamp board with the FTDI driver required by the Murant program. The only hitch I had was programming the serial interface using the USB port with Java under Panther. With a LOT of messing about I finally got it to work very well. Now the Java code runs on windows/mac/etc and talks to the stamp - but I get to write code on the laptop anywhere! I use the IDE they have on windows and it is very, very good - and I would probably prefer that one's feature set - but I love my laptop and it's a mac. I was so happy when apple embraced FreeBSD as it has been my favorite platform for a long time. My desk has 8 computers behind it that I keep running: 1 WinDoze, 2 Red Hats, 1 OS/2 (a great production machine), 1 Novell Server and all the rest are FreeBSD!!

If anyone is worried about using parallax stamps with a mac - worry no longer. They go together very well indeed.

2 great products from 2 great companies.

When is Parallax going to release an updated PBasic tokenizer that supports the BS2PX?

I'm a Mac Geek. yeah.gif Unfortunately Murat's program doesn't like my USB adapter. But I have Virtual PC so I use the editor from Parallax. I run it from my Dual 2.0Ghz G5 usually. Occasionally for convienence I use my Powerbook 17, it works well too (just not as "snappy" as the G5). I suppose I should get the FTDI-based adapter from Parallax, (didn't somebody say it works?) and try Murat's program.

I have used the Keyspan USA-19 series with no problem and also an iConcepts, both with my iMac G5 and my PBook G4/867 under Panther and now Tiger. With every version of MacBS2 to the present. I still do most of my Parallax stuff with my lone PC. I really wish Murat would get Memory Map working.

    Hi,

I was just wondering if there is a way to program the BS (have the NX1000 board) through bluetooth on a mac (PB).
Would be nice, programming your BS with your laptop an no wires....

    greetings
    Aaron

PS I am a new user, don't know that much yet :)

    Hi SilverApe,

I recently ordered a blue tooth module from Parallax to experiment with connectivity on a mac. I don't have the NX1000 board but I will let you know what I find out when my bluetooth module comes in.

Here is a link to what I ordered: www.parallax.com/detail.asp?product_id=30068

    One more thing-

Apparently the nx-1000 has been discontinued. I suspect it has been replaced by the professional development board. I will search ebay and such to see if I can buy one. At any rate, I will tinker on my stuff with bluetooth and get back with you. Assuming my embeddedBlue AppMod comes in today.

    Cheers,
    Doc

    ON EDIT:
No luck finding the nx-1000 on ebay. I have the Professional Development board on order I will experiment when it arrives.
