PS2 controller to operate the 4 motors on my bot

I have a BS2e·and I want to use a Playstation PS2 controller to operate the 4 motors on my bot. The 2 joysticks on the PS2 can be used to·vary the speed of the 4 motors. Up on the joystick is forward and down is reverse. Sideways motion of joystick is to turn left or right. I want to limit the size of the cable from the carrier board to the bot.·The bot will have its own power and board.
How do I interface the PS2 with the BS2e on the carrier board?
How do I transmit the controller data from the carrier board to the bot?
I am a·newbie to bot building and any help would greatly reduce my frustration.
Thanks,
loogy

For those that are interested, I'm working on an SX project (using SX/B) that will allow a BASIC Stamp to talk to up to four PSX controllers through a simple serial connection.· Stay tuned....

I've also attached a couple files I collected in my own searches (yes, I use Google!) -- but I can provide NO support for these files.
