SX/B I2C ? Can't get MAX6956 to work

Anyone here use SX/B with the built in I2C commands (I2CSTART, I2CSEND, I2CSTOP) ?

It seems easy enough, but I just can't get it to work. I'm trying to interface a MAX6956 LED driver chip, but I can't seem to get it to recognize the commands. The 'acknowledge' bit always returns false.

BTW, I have both address lines tied to ground, and am using $80 as the address (this seems to be the most common area for mistakes).

Anyone use a MAX6956 before? Maybe I just have the data stream wrong.

Thanks!
-Warren

I have used SX/B commands to write and read an EEPROM, so I'm pretty sure they work as advertized. For all the complications of the MAX6956, you might want to use a second SX as your display driver....
