Servo Placement

The BOEBot comes with the instructions to mount the servos totally inside the chassis, that is insert them from the inside going out and secure them with the nuts and bolts with the mounting flanges inside the chassis. This is for wheel use. But the crawler and the tractor additions require you to mount the servos from the outside going in with the mounting flanges on the outside.

Is there any consideration beyong an added wheel width of about 3/8"(2 times slightly less than a quarter inch per wheel) for just mounting them oustide for all applications so that the crawler or tractor mods can be added/removed with just a few screws? Is there anything lost when using the wheels slightly wder spaced beyond the 'fatness' ???

    Brian,

·· You can mount them on the outside without issue for the most part.· The only accessory I can think of that could be a problem is if you used the wheel encoders.· They require the servos to be mounted on the inside of the chassis.· If you don't plan on using that, or if you know you'll be using the other mods you mentioned, just go ahead and mount them on the outside.
