Image Processing on the SX52

Hey all -

I am in the process of developing my own vision system.· I am using one of Omnivision's CMOS image sensors and looking into frame buffers and·microprocessors·right now.· I was able to find this frame buffer· from Averlogic: http://www.averlogic.com/video_FIFO/422b.html· I have also looked into the PSoC's from Cypress Semiconductor (maybe for frame buffer and microcontroller).· I am trying to get a sense of what some of you may have used in the past.· Any feedback would be great.

The CMUCam2 utilizes the SX52, Omnivision CMOS image sensor, and an Averlogic AL422B as the frame buffer. The documentation is available at http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~cmucam2/CMUcam2_manual.pdf. It includes schematic and parts list. The same website has the firmware (w/o source).

My understanding, after some conversations with the mfgr of the C compiler they used for the first version of CMUCAM, is that at least the first version HAD to be open source in return for the C compiler being supplied free of charge. However, they have removed all the source code (again, this is just as far as I can see) so I've put a copy of it up on the sxlist.com site.
