9V battery and Board of Education

I just purchased the USB Oscilliscope and they recomended getting a fresh 9v battery for my "BOE" I tried using 4 AA batterys but i couldn't get a signal for the first activity, so im going to add a 9v battery, but do I have to change the jumper on the "BOE" right now it is at the top on vdd, should i put it down or keep it as is?

    ·· Leave the jumper on the Vdd setting when using the 9V battery.
