A message to all: It would be a wonderful world if there was a parallax store up the road from me, so when I need a servo now, I could get a servo now. But as it happens, there is a radio shack up the road from me instead. I just got back from radio shack where I just wasted one hour of my time and $20.00 of my money. On the shelf was a VEX brand "servo kit". I asked the kid behind the counter what he knew about the servo, and the answer was "not much". When I got home, I was suprised to find that the documentation that came with the servo was, pretty much, a picture of the servo. When I called the company to ask about the voltage requirements, I spoke to a company engineer- who didnt know the voltage of the servo!! In addition, he told me that there was no way to make the thing work with out the VEX brand controller board. How can a company sell a "Servo kit" that is, in fact, not a servo kit at all. WHAT THE F+!K!!!!skull.gif

Yeah we discussed the Vex extensively a few months back in this thread. General impression was that we were very unimpressed. It just proves the addage: ·new /= better (new·is not equal to·better).

I was one of the lucky few who got drafted by FIRST to mentor a VEX robotics team this past season.· I believe there were around 40 VEX teams at the national competition in Atlanta.· The general consensus was that the VEX kit on it's own is pretty bad but has a lot of potential.
