SPENCE,

ARE YOU REFERRING TO THIS COMPARISON TABLE?

ASIDE FROM THAT, MAYBE SXLIST.COM HAS A WELL-DEVELOPED COMPARISON CHART OR YOU SHOULD GO STRAIGHT TO THE DATASHEETS.

[TO OTHERS: SPENCE PREFERS ALL CAP MESSAGES SO HE CAN READ ON A PC SCREEN MORE EASILY. . . HE'S NOT YELLING AT US].

SPENCE,

IRONICALLY, IT'S EASIER FROM A CHARACTER RECOGNITION STANDPOINT TO READ lowercase LETTERS THAN IT IS TO READ UPPERCASE.

SEE THE FOLLOWING FOR MORE INFORMATION:

citnews.unl.edu/presentations/text.html

www.absoluteastronomy.com/encyclopedia/m/ma/majuscule.htm

cal.bemidji.msus.edu/webtraining/YaleManual/pages/typography.html

IF YOU FIND THE LETTERS TOO SMALL DUE TO VISION PROBLEMS, I RECOMMEND CHANGING THE WAY WINDOWS DISPLAYs TEXT ON YOUR SYSTEM. IF YOU'RE NOT FAMILIAR WITH HOW TO DO IT, THEN A GOOGLE SEARCH WILL POINT THE WAY. THERE ARE ALSO SHORTCUT KEYS FOR CHANGING TEXT SIZE IN ALL MAJOR BROWSERS ON THE FLY.
THANKS, PETERM

Hey Guys

Thanks for your support PJMonty on the use of capitals. A note from one of·the less gifted among us.

if you use lower case Roman or Arial, it also helps a lot of dyslexics and other people with reading problems. After a while·most dyslexics learn to·recognise the shape of each word. If·someone types in capitals or some strange font,·we have to spell out each word which is slow, difficult and frustrating.

I'm sure word recognition (as distinguished from spelling each character out) is used by most readers but those with problems are much more aware of it because we grind to a stop when confronted by capitals or strange text.

While doing a vac job 35 years ago, an old·printer put it in context for me. "Keep the type standard, use one of the two common fonts, don't make the page too black·and avoid anything in you setting which may detract from the content. After all, it is the content·what is important."

Remember! Research conducted some years ago showed that about 5% of the US population have some degree of Dyslexia. Now most of these won't get through your schooling system and therefore won't get to read what you may post, you may want to consider the few that will.

THAT'S MY BEEF ABOUT USING CAPITALS.

Kind regards for Kwa Dukuza

While I am not dyslexic, a good friend on mine is. He says that serif fonts are easier to read than sans serif fonts, the extra flurishes in serif fonts help him distinguish between two easily confused letters.

So, bad is easier to read than bad. If he sees the tail on the d, he knows its a d immeadiately without having to stop and think·about it.

This thread has strayed off topic, so no more comments from me on this side issue.
