You know....
you would sell a lot more of those if you let people know the good news about them.
With the buttons, you can scroll left and right and hop left and right·to different spots in the Data RAM.
This means that it really isn't an 8 character wide display at all, just a little package for a big display.
If you want, you can automate the scrolls or hops so that you don't have to push any buttons except for whatever you want to dedicate them to.
Everyone keeps thinking Bigger is Better, but my robots don't have room for a 4X20.
Maybe Jon would like to write this up for a Nuts and Volts article.·

I am working on using the little guy like 'virtual 8 character wide pages' and I will make time to read your article.
The Scroll LEFT and Scroll RIGHT is common to all the Hitachi 44780s, so it can be used on the larger ones too.
But, you do have to provide your own keyboard interface if needed.
