Sony Lanc remote

Just wondering if anyone has done anything like this for their sony video cam and used the bs2.

From what I understand, the lanc connection on some of the cameras is a serial interface and from the net I've seen a bit of info on it. So again, just wondering if anyone has tried building a remote control?

My interest in bulding this is to make an interface of sorts for an underwater video housing (the control part)that plugs into the bs2, then from there, interpret button presses to do different functions and control the camera.
press button a twice goes into still cam mode, three times into video mode and so on.

Any thoughts on this idea?

I think you'd have better look building a LANC controller with the SX -- and you could do it in BASIC with our SX/B compiler. The trick with LANC is that the camera is always transmitting and you have to step on that transmission -- in perfect sync -- in order to send data to the camera. I don't think the BS2 instruction load/setup time is fast enough to do this.

Building a LANC controller is on my list, though a lower priority now that my new camera (Panasonic DVX100A) does not have a LANC port.

After looking around a bit more, I might just be able to just reprogram the camera it'self....though thats a risky endevor....

Btw, nice camera, I've actually been eyeing the hvx200. now thats a masterpiece....
