USB serial adapter experiences

I just thought that I should share my USB serial adapter experiences.
I bought a cheap adapter(prolific) and tried it, Error IDE-0052.
So I updated the drivers and now it works.


Manufacturer Chip OS driver,version driver,date(YMD) OK?
Drivers

BAFO Prolific,pl2303 W-XP 2.0.0.26 20040625 Did not work.
BAFO Prolific,pl2303 W-XP 2.0.2.0 20050623 Works. Default settings.

Yeah, I also have been playing around with several adapters

My Belkin adapter with a 6/6/05 driver still does not work

However, after reading your post, I updated the new Prolific driver and now the adapter works just fine, and I can download files to the Javelin with no problems at all.

Even though the Belkin adapter does not allow me to send files to the Javelin, it works perfectly fine with HyperTerminal for receiving information from the Javelin's COM port

Wow- this is an old thread, but the Google site search dug it up. This just saved me; I spent hours last night in frustration trying to program my new javelin, to no avail. Got up early this morning to give it another go before work and found this thread. I downloaded the latest prolific driver (my adapter is a 'Dynex') and it works like a charm.
