I just order 8 SX-52 boards [am I crazy?].
These Sx-52s are really a lot more than the SX-28s.· It is not just the I/O Port count.
Since they have·2 additional multifunction·timers in the chip, not just·the standard two, they can handle far more complex tasks.· And there is more memory too.
Also, the fact that the crystal and the board are already together allows you to get the maximum speed without struggling with building the right board configuration. At 50mHZ or above, that is a troublesome construction task.
I just wanted to say thanks and mention that this goes a long way toward leading hobbyist into new arenas.· Parallax is intrepid!
As I look back at what seems to have been my many hobbies, I begin to realize that there is a lot of creativity that goes into providing the supplies and materials that are both useful and challanging to people that don't really have expert knowledge, but would like to become informed.· Just providing what everyone else does is never quite enough.
By leading the way, Parallax really creates the future of electronics as a hobby.· I don't know if it will continue to be robotic, but these chips offer many more possiblities.· {Somebody mentioned Gameboy.}
OH, by the way, I got stupid a few months ago and complained about the Barrel Plug.· I just put together a new robot without the Barrel Plug as I was quite annoyed by them. Ironically, ·I found that I really was getting a lot of short circuits with dramatic sparks flying everywhere.· Whaddayaknow, those little Barrel Plugs are almost short circuit proof.
Silly me....·· it is back to the drawing board.
Warm regards,
