Keyspan USB Serial Adapter USA19H

I thought I read in one of the other forums that the Keyspan USB serial adapter was an approved USB serial adapter. When attempting to identify the Javelin, I am getting Error IDE-0052. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Ryan

Since posting this I took everything upstairs to the desktop PC and installed the software, etc and it works fine, so I am assuming that it is indeed the serial adapter. Interesting note, however. My coworker and I bought these USB to serial adapters on the same day and he has been using his to program his BS2 BOE-Bot? Am I missing something?

Did you download the drivers?· If so, you may need to set the "Latency timer" to one.· Go to your "Device manager" and click on ports, then click on the "Port settings" tab and then click on "Advance" and you see the "Latency" timer setting, change it to one.

The port settings tab in Device Manager kicks off the "Keyspan USB Serial Adapter Assistant" utility. Attached is a screenshot of the properties page. There isn't a setting for latency.

What options are available in the Transmit Completion Timing pull-down?

    "Transmit Completion Timing Advance" options:
    • Standard (Default)
    • Faster
    "Receive FIFO Buffer Size" options:
    • None
    • 8
    • 16 (Default)
    • 56
    • 60
    • 63

These apparently are the only options that I can modify...

    Thanks,

    Ryan

Hmm... nothing there that would seem to help. USB adapters have been a nightmare for everyone because many adapter manufacturers don't support everything that an standard RS-232 port is capable of. That's why when we found that FTDI does and consistantly works, we adopted it for our own products.

Yeah. That's the weird thing. My coworker and I bought the same adapters the same day. We have the exact same laptops. Apparently he can use his to program his BS2 BOE-BOT. I haven't tried to program a BS2 with it. I didn't have anything set up to try it last night. And I thought I read in the EFX group that Chris Savage said that the Keyspan was known to work, that's why I was confused.

To get by yesterday I ended up using the USBMOD1 (which has the FTDI chip in it)·that I bought a while ago for something else and a MAX205 to make my own·USB - Serial adapter. A little ugly, but I was trying to do it quickly. It ended up working...

Ugly's okay ... so long as it works. Now you can see why we're using FTDI in our own products. I don't know if it's their chips or their drivers or the combination, but we've certainly had better luck with FTDI than any other vendor.

My·sentiments exactly. Look like I will need to look into getting one of the ones from you guys. As you can see, my solution is not "packaged" for portability. smile.gif
