SX-Key Debugger starts up in Running mode

Hi all,

today, I wanted to debug an SX 28 system that I have assembled on my "home-brew" SX-Multi board. When the debugger came up, it displayed "Running" in the status section, and all buttons except "Quit" were disabled.

I found out the reason pretty soon. On the board, I did not provide a jumper that can be pulled to disconnect the resonator from the OSC1 pin for debugging. Instead, I have installed a 3-pin socket for the resonator (like on the SX Tech board) to be able to pull the resonator out for debugging. According to the SX datasheet, I have also placed a 10 kOhm parallel resistor on the board, connected to the OSC1 and OSC2 pins of the SX device. It was this resistor causing the trouble. After un-soldering one leg, the SX-Key and the debugger worked as expected.

Seems as if the SX-Key gets messed up when the resitance it "sees" between OSC1 and OSC2 is too low. Should you experience similar behavior, check for the resistor, and in case you are using a jumper do disconnect the resonator, make sure that any parallel resistor is connected "behind" the jumper, i.e. in parallel to the resonator, so that it is disconnected from the OSC1 pin as well when you pull the jumper.

Happy SX-ing!
