Has anyone used the stepper moter driver UCN5804 with a BS, or worse two of them to cause defferential drive speed for steering?

Can the BS Homework Board put out two different frequency square waves from two ports at once? like 15 emmitting an 80 Hz square wave while 14 is emmintting a 100Hz square wave?

really new - first post

Just as a note of reference, the UNC5804 is a discontinued chip.

Get them in your hands before you go too far with the design.

The only way I know to get 2 simultaneous frequencies is to use FREQOUT...· but both freqs are on a single pin. Look it up in the help index. There's a lot of good information there. You could put both instructions in a loop that may make them appear to be simultaneous but it may produce jerky motion.· As an alternative to stepper motors you may want to consider continuous rotation servos. They are simply standard hobby servos that have been modified. You can purchase modified servos from Parallax or hack them yourself. There are some significant advantages to servos, not the least of which is ease of use. The Homework board is very versatile I am sure somebody out here can help you adapt you idea to the Stamp, but you might have to take another route to end up at the same place.

Sorry, but the BS2 is a single-tasking processor -- while it's doing a FREQOUT or PWM on one pin, all other pins are idle. They can 'hold state', but that's about it.

And while it's doing a SERIN on one pin, it can't 'listen' on another pin at the same time.

On the other hand, at slow rates like 80 Hz, you CAN 'toggle the pins' yourself, and make it LOOK like it's outputting square waves at the same time.
