Would it be possible to use 4 C-size batteries instead of AAs? I know I would have to install new holders.

If you can find the space, go for it. Remember that the extra weight won't give you a linear capacity increase.

I've actually been looking at using two lithium polymer (LiPo) 3.4vdc cells -- LiPo has the best power-to-weight ratio of any commercially available battery technology right now, and a decent-sized LiPo pack for a BoE-Bot or Toddler only runs you about $10, and is rechargable hundreds of times (obviously a charger is an additional cost).

Thanks, guys! I love Parallax Forums! I was thinking of putting them in the space between the chassie and circuit board.

Bugg,· look for the double sided battery packs.· They hold 8 AA batteries and it last for long time and you can use rechargeables.

You can now get 2500mAh Ni-mh AA's, which should help a bit.
(Not all stores have them. You may have to search them out online)

And if that isn't enough, I spotted some 8000mAh D-size Ni-mh's in a shop today...

Remember that if you're using rechargeable AAs of *any* sort, you'll need five instead of four of them because they have a lower nominal voltage, and the BoE-Bot's regulator needs some headroom.

(Trust me: I have some of the NiMhs in question wink.gif ).

Yeah, I know... NiCds produce 1.2 vs. 1.5 VDC.
    Thanks for all the help!
