Ming TX-99 300 Mhz Transmitter

I'm getting ready to build a remote control boat. I've looked around a bit on the web for inexpencive radio control chips, and the Ming TX-99 seemed like a good buy. I can get a kit for $25. I think it has a range of 50ft to several hundred feets. It seems that it would be enough to control a motor & servo (for the rudder.)

1) Does this sound reasonable?
2) Is there anything else I should take a look at? (Inexpencive is·good in my case)

Thanks!

I've played around with Ming TX/RX modules. They are MARGINALLY useful. I would recommend going to www.rentron.com, have a look at the offerings from LINX, they sell both the RX and TX modules that support high data rates and long ranges. If you do a web search for the Ming, you will turn up many articles that explain the limitations of those modules.
