Got the LCD display today.· I got more then I thought.· The module comes complete with a 120V plug-in wall-wart power supply along with an adpater for a car cigarette lighter.· The cigarette lighter adapter is actually a 100W power inverter for 12VDC to 120VAC.· I don't think 100W is enough to run this module and a game console like the PS2 or XBOX but thats how they advertise it.· The module looks finished and well manufactured.· On the right-hand side there are RCA jacks for video in and L/R audio in; they also have a S-VIDEO in.· There is a jack for the 12VDC power and a power switch.· On the left-hand side there is a "mode" button that allows you to adjust things like contrast, color, and brightness with an on-screen display (very nice).· There are two buttons, "up" and "down" for making these adjustments.· There is also a "rotate" button so you can flip the display for viewing up-side-down.· A volumn knob is provided to adjust the level of the two built-in speakers and two headphone jacks are provided for private listening.· All-in-all it is better than I thought it would be.· However, the "down" button doesn't work so I can't make any adjustments (at least down).· I called TigerDirect for a replacement, but this one is usable until the replacement arrives.· On the front there is a "stand-by" LED when the switch is off but power is still applied.· To the left of that LED is what appears to be an IR receiver for a remote.· None came with it nor is it advertised with one.· I do not see a receiver under the red tinted window so it might have been something they though about at one time.· Perhaps a receiver was going to be put in at one time so you could watch TV.PLJack said...Donald Bartley said...
I just ordered me up one to try out with the ezVID. I've looked at the ezVID connected to another video LCD screen. Can't wait to see what it looks like with this one
Very cool.
Please fill us in on how you make out.
A picture would be very much appreciated.
Now for the fun stuff.· I connected an ezVID 2.0 to a BS2 and·the picture·was very crisp, fired up right away with no problems.· Sorry,·I'm not a good photographer but I attached some pictures.· It was hard getting a picture since the LCD refresh rate seemed to be in-sync with my digital camera.· I drew up a color bar test pattern to check color.· It seemed a bit bright but I couldn't adjust it down since that button doesn't work ·· But it still looks good with good color separation.· I then hooked up an ezMOUSE (www.multilabs.net)·to the BS2 and drew some colored lines.· The pixels are very crisp (I couldn't get any good close-up shots) and the colors work well together.· No "bleed" like you get on a CRT.··For the price it is a very good unit.· Hopefully my problem with the "down" button is not common.· In the end, you connect this to the ezVID that Parallax carries·or its upgrade the ezVID 2.0 (www.multilabs.net)·and you get a fairly inexpensive serial color LCD module that you can do text and graphics on with your Stamp.· This will make a nice addition to the workbench.· Time to go draw some pictures and have fun...·
