hi all
I have been searching these fourms looking for someone that has had my problem but havnt..
I have a BOE with a bs2. I am running xp on my home computer which happends to be a laptop with no serial port.
I had a usb to serial adaptor that I use to use for something that I cant remember now and pluged it all together.. I followed the trouble shooting on page 301 of the robotics with boe bot book..
can I have some advice?
my usb to serial device is coming up under the device manager as a human interface device.. but it is there. windows sees it, why cant the stamp editor? btw, the stamp editor is version 2.2
help??

·· Chances are if the adapter is not an FTDI or KeySpan, it may in fact not be able to work with the BASIC Stamp.· The fact that it shows up as an HID means you probably don't have it's driver installed.· You could try going to the products support web page and get the correct drivers for it.
·· Also, because you're on a Laptop, once you do get the correct drivers, you may need to go into the Device Properties page and turn the Latency setting down to 1.

the serial to usb adapter that I have did or does not have any drivers for xp. it relys on xp's native drivers.
at any rate.. where would I find the proper adapter?
also I know parallax does not support linux.. but there must be an editor out there that works under linux. I almost never use windows .. infact this is the first time Ive used windows in more then a month..
thanks so much for you time

·· We carry a USB to Serial adapter that is tested to work with the BASIC Stamp Modules.· It's the FTDI unit located at the link below.· As for the linux software, see the second link.
