OLED brighter than LCD?

Does anyone know if the OLED screens are brighter than LCD? I thought there were but then I looked at the NITS ratings and the LCD's are up to 1000 or more and the OLED is rated at 250 for a 1.5" approx diagnal screen. Am I missing something? Does anyone know where to buy OLED's and if there is an application note of using one with the basic stamp?

OLED displays are definitely brighter than LCD displays. The OLED displays have a higher typical luminous intensity than the lcds. You can get a OLED display in the form of a polymer that will work well with a basic stamp at http://www.matrixorbital.com/index.php?cName=lcd-character-pleds . We have sample code for using the displays with the basic stamp at http://www.matrixorbital.ca/appnotes/basic_stamp/ .
