Video question

I know this isn't really a "stamp" question (but if I can find an answer to this question, it will be controlled by a Stamp)...

I would like to learn how to take video from a camera and save it to an IC - then perhaps be able to get that saved video from storage and bring it into a PC for viewing.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Save video to an IC? You do realize the storage requirements for video, right? If you are going to have video AND audio that's even larger.

What IC did you have in mind? Or by IC do you mean compact flash/SD/etc ?

Thanks for the reply - well to be honest, I am not sure. I am guessing that a SD or flash would make the most sense (in so far as getting it from the device to a PC). Guess that's why I posted the question - I don't know...
Then there is the issue with compression, etc.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

Most digital cameras do this for way less money than you ever could.
Maybe you just need to control a digital camera with the stamp (or whatever microcontroller).

Bean is on the right track.
If you look at the tiny videos that a digital camera can record with sound, that is a very good indicator of what you can expect from DIY.

If that is what you want and you are really into just trying to learn all the technology invovled, you may want to look for a single board computer system that uses SD cards.

Otherwise, you really have to reconsider what you want to customize. Having more control options via a BasicStamp is quite possible and simple to do.

I have a box with a servo motor that robotically can shutter my digital Konica. So, I can take time lapse photography or movies. With the BasicStamp I can even have it shut down when the light level is too low via a photoresistor sensor. When the light come back it can start again.

It is a nice toy. I suppose I could get it to tell me when the batteries were running low too. So many ideas, so little time
