SX-Key Help file

Why does there seem to be no SX "asm" help file.
When I was learning SX/B I always had the help file open and it was, well, a great help.
Now I'm learning asm and I can find no help file.

Is it just me? Can there really be no help file?
Please don't say blah, blah, PDf file. smile.gif

    PLJack,

Sadly, there is no help file for assembly with the IDE. Why? You would have to ask the folks at Parallax. It has been this way since the IDE first came out.

As for the answer, since you don't like "blah, blah, PDF file," then I can only suggest "blah, blah, the actual physical manual". Sorry, but it's a Parallax issue.
      Thanks, PeterM

If you really need .CHM files, you can use http://www.dawningsoft.com/ to convert the file to .CHM, of course·it won't be·tied in to the IDE.

I don't know why opening up a copy of Acrobat is an issue, it supports multiple files (.CHM only permits one open unless you double click on the .CHM file itself), it has a search engine that actually works well and provides better·formatting than a compressed HTML does. I personally would like to do the opposite and dump those infernal help files into pdf. You can write a batch file for invoking the SX IDE and start Acrobat with the files you want, one double click and everything is opened for you.

Ha!,thanks for the laugh, I forgot to mention that one in my post. I do have the manuals, all three of them spread out on the desk.
I'm forever saying to myself, "what manual and page did I see "bla bla" on.

CHM is as light as a feather.
Acrobat is a massive application and is a breath away from being its own OS.

CHM has a search and will provide a "clickable" list of all matches.
Acrobat has a find, find again, find up, find down.

CHM has contents broken down into logical categories.
Acrobat has an index that might or might not be "clickable"

CHM has an index that lists all "hypertexted" items.
    Acrobat has an index.

CHM has a one click copy.
Acrobat has a Text tool that is a pain in the butt to use/highlight.

I only need one asm help file.

Please don't take this a terse, you did ask.

If I took the time to make a CHM file, would anyone want to use it?.
I should know asm pretty well after that exercise. smile.gif

No I dont think you were terse. I understand your position, Windows help files still have the 3.1 feel to them, a system I cursed at on an hourly basis.

    PLJack,

I don't know if you have seen this, but there is a way to make Adobe 6 start up way faster. I didn't come up with this approach, but it does work as it's the way I have mine set currently:
    • Go to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 6.0\Reader (replace the C if you installed on another drive).
    • Create a new folder called plug_ins_disabled.
    • Move all files from the plug_ins folder to the plug_ins_disabled folder except EWH32.api, printme.api, and search.api. There should only be these 3 files in the plug_ins folder.
    • You're done.

Try starting Adobe Reader 6.0 and you'll find it starts mighty fast now.
      Thanks, PeterM

No I have not seen that.

Works GREAT! Thank you so much for that one.

BTW, the only one I had on your list was EWH32.api.
