ping)) current draw

In its specs it says that the Ping)) sonar draws about 30 ma.· I remember something about the BSII only being able to source 20 ma per pin and 40 ma total.· Does the 20 ma only mean that output pins can source that but the vdd pins can source more?

The Ping Vdd connection is not meant to be sourced from a BASIC Stamp IO pin. The Vdd connection to the Ping should be connected to an appropriate 5 vdc supply. If you're using a BOE, you should be using the Vdd connections for that supply.

ok, so it is fine to connect the ping to the vdd of the stamp, the vss of the stamp, and one pin for the signal?

You could use the Stamp's onboard regulator (with at least 6v connected to the Stamp's VIN pin) -- if that's what you're suggesting -- but you may be pushing it just a bit, especially if you're using other devices (like LEDs, or an LCD, etc.) as well. If you're on a BOE, no problem; it's onboard regulator can supply lots of current.

The Ping))) is a very cool device -- I'm sure you'll have lots of fun once you get things going.
