Some very Strange Vehicles At Parallax!!!

While messing around with terraserver I decided to see where the people who make my favorite microcontroller work. I couldnt belive it at first I had to look twice. It appears that they drive large vehicular variations of the basic stamp. From the shadows it appears that they float, perhaps someone·at parallax could explain this!

PS.. I had to do something to learn how to mess with layers in photoshop tongue.gif

Makes me wonder if they are working on a full sized, all terrain, 8 passenger hex crawler in conjunction! If so, put me on the list!

    Hey guys,

Please don't call Sales and ask to buy a StampMobile. We are just getting started with production and it could take a while this time. All specifications and details for StampMobile will be posted on the web when Andy finishes the Stamps in Class book. It's the first time we've built any kind of automobile before.

On another note, you are all welcome to visit us anytime.

The new mBus CAN device makes more sense now.... >:)

Will Parallax be working on a StampMotorcycle as well? That would be cool... :)

No, knowing them, they're probably working on a electric-powered, stamp-controlled unicycle...

After all, why else do they have compass modules, gyros and motor controllers?

Imagine zipping around in a 7' tall wheel, then blowing past those slooooow Segways...

I too am surprised they are so large. Knowing Andy, I thought the project was more along the lines of a super-skateboard with the compass, gyro, jet controller, etc. etc. Something like "Back to the Future". That could explain the illusion of "hovering". Perhaps each one accommodates a crew of 4, or 6 in the case of the large orange model.

    (hehe!)

    Tracy,

"Perhaps each one accommodates a crew of 4, or 6 in the case of the large orange model."

Either that, or Ken hasn't been entirely honest about the size of his Penguin-bots...<g>

    Hey,

Terraserver is great - thanks for making me aware of this resource.

Besides this, when I took a look at the Parallax building I found another new vehicle in the parking area. Officially, Parallax did not disclose any information about this new project but I have the impression that they are going to release a "Monster BoeBot" in the near future. Don't believe that? Have a look at the attached picture...

    Recently, Ken G. eMailed me:

"you created a full-size Boe-Bot that can be driven by our staff. I’m not sure how the suspension scales to that large size but I guess we’ll find out next week."

Seems as if thy want it for their own use at first place and that it requires some more design work before it goes into sales. IMO, it's a bit uncomfortable sitting on the breadboarding area. Keep in mind that the holes are wider by a factor of about 25, compared to the original Boe-Bot. smile.gif

Apperantly Parallax is trying out a new line MacroQuadCrawler - a mechanical and electronic programming kit for·kids. Joe, sorry but I haven't spot a MacroHexCrawler yet! There seem to be some sort of Macro Sumo-Bot competition going on...

Are these the new Stamps approved for "high current flow" applications? The maximum current draw on any pin is 200 amps.

It looks like the front of the building has a handle. You could just pick it up like a brief case and carry it away. Could it be they are prepared to move their operations to a foreign countryon a moment's notice?

I think the secret is that these devices are the means by which Jon Williams and other teleworkers are able to "commute" the 400· or so miles and appear to the rest of the world to actually work at Parallax.
