Problem running SX-Key 3.1/SXSIM 2.05

Tonight I tried upgrading SX-Key 3.0 to 3.1 and ran into a problem when launching 3.1. This error message appears when launching SX-Key 3.1 "SXSIM on disk is version 0.00 Update to version 2.06.02? (Recommended)" I click the 'Yes' button and its says can't update - SXSIM is already running. When trying to run SxSIM directly from Windows "MsComCtl.ocx or one of it's dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid".
SXSIM is running in the task manager - and it's a pain to quit. I typically have to quit/shut-down this program 3-4 times before I can restart the computer.
I uninstalled SX-Key 3.0 and 3.1, trashed SXSIM, rebooted and reinstalled 3.1 and SXSIM - but this didn't fix the problem.
I've been using SX-Key 3.0 for the past few weeks without incident - so I don't know how to fix this problem. FYI my machine is running Windows 98SE and the Virtual Basic 6 Virtual Machine is installed (msvbvm60.dll)
How do I fix this?

Glad to hear you solved the problem. I was waiting for Guenther to reply since it sounded like an SXSim issue, not an IDE issue. The IDE just launches SXSim as needed, including at startup to verify if it needs upgrading. If SXSim is having a problem running, then you could end up with the IDE not being able to close SXSim when the IDE shuts down.
Thanks, PeterM
sorry, somehow, I missed this thread.
It seems as if there is an incompatibility between SXSim and an existing MSCOMCTL.OCX when it is installed on Win98 or Win ME machines. I'll try to find out the reason for this problem and - hopefully - can fix it. Unfortunately, I'm quite busy with another project right now, so I'll need some more days before I can address this matter.

Greetings from Germany,

Everything is working fine on my system now. The root problem was mscomctl.ocx was NOT installed on my Windows 98SE system and the fix was to download it, install and register the file - see my link above.
